Jason Brown

Founder and President

Before CareerLaunch was a brand, it was a vision. It was my vision.

I spent too many years in jobs that didn’t inspire me. I wanted my work to mean something, to employ my expertise and passion to help others get ahead in their careers. That’s when CareerLaunch was born.

Thomas Edison once said, “There is a way to do it better, find it.” I like to think I did just that. My career has improved exponentially since taking the leap and starting my own business. In that process, I’ve learned—and since perfected—the art of the job search.

Whenever people used to ask what I did for a living, my answer was simple—“I write resumes and cover letters.” What I didn’t realize then was that CareerLaunch would grow to become so much more than that. Together, my team and I partner with clients to aid them in getting to the next level in their careers. Everyone at CareerLaunch is driven by the personal connections we make with our clients. We aren’t just putting out a product, we are selling a partnership rooted in accountability, expertise, and highly effective job search tools.

Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that the best work is done with you, not for you. Whether that’s crafting a new resume, running mock interviews, or helping you optimize your job search—our collaborative approach is what sets us apart and one of the things I’m most proud of. Together we’ve helped countless professionals find better jobs across almost every industry and experience level—but the numbers will never be my greatest accomplishment, even as we watch them grow. I revel in the fact that I am doing a job I love and helping our clients to do the same.

CareerLaunch is growing more every day. We are evolving, refining, and tailoring our services to find a better way to optimize business performance and maximize the value we bring to our clients. The decision to step back from the running of day to day operations has allowed me to focus on growing the business, establishing relationships that will help us do that, and expanding our reach to help even more people.

I currently reside in Northern Virginia with my wife, Hannah, who made the transition from small-town Ohio to the big-city with me five years ago. When I’m not working, I’m hiking, playing golf, or going for a drive (but not in traffic).

Sara Pokas

Co-Owner and Chief Operating Officer

I joined the team at CareerLaunch in early 2019 with the hopes of leveraging a natural talent and passion for writing to support our clients in reaching their career goals. In the past three years, our company has seen exponential growth and has garnered a reputation for exceptional service, quality products, and a collaborative, people-centric approach that has helped us to expand our base and help countless clients exceed their expectations.

After two years as the Director of Writing Services in which I’ve demonstrated a commitment to the success of both our company and our clients, I was thrilled to step into a partnership with Jason built upon our collective strengths, vision, and mission for CareerLaunch. As the Co-Owner and Chief Operating Officer, my hope is that CareerLaunch continues to be a support system for our clients—whether you’ve worked with us before or heard about us through the grapevine, we’re passionate about what we do and who we work for. As expert-level writers and job search strategists, we’ll partner with you to make sure you’re ready for whatever comes next.

I currently reside in the great city of Chicago, where I’m replanting my midwestern roots after a decade of nomadic travel and adventure. When I’m not working, I’m writing (yes, always), binging podcasts, or ordering things I don’t need from Amazon.

Mike Pokas, Certified Life Coach, C/CISO, CISSP, CISM, PMP

Career and Interview Coach

Michael “Mike” Pokas is a senior business consultant and strategist with 35+ years of experience that spans a diverse range of technologies and industry verticals. As a leader in his field, he has demonstrated an ability to achieve the strategic and tactical goals of an organization through the engagement of technical, communication, and complex problem-solving expertise. 

In his current role, Mike enables and promotes sustainability for clients’ by carefully analyzing the efficacy and performance of their business operations, identifying critical objectives, deficiencies, and gaps, and offering actionable solutions to functional challenges. As a trusted senior advisor having served both internally and externally, Mike has established a reputation for delivering above and beyond expectations and optimizing the way business leaders engage cyber security strategy, risk management, technical implementation, operations and compliance, disaster recovery, and business continuity. 

Beyond his consultant role, Mike has a passion for career and interview coaching. He operates at the intersection of strategy and success—seeking to guide clients in establishing career focus, managing goals, improving work productivity and relationships, preparing for interviews, and more. By capitalizing on their individual skills, strengths, and capabilities, he is able to lead clients in the right direction while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity.  

Mike possesses a B.A. in Business Administration from Canyon College. He is a Certified Chief Information Security Officer (C/CISO), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), has also achieved his Project Management (PMP) Certification, and has presented on cyber security and risk management at professional conferences, published white papers, and crafted blogs on issues relating to cyber security.
